Not on viewWeb CommentaryWhile in Greece in 1886 and 1887, William Amory Gardner wrote frequently to his aunt, Isabella Stewart Gardner. In this letter from Athens, William Amory tells Isabella about a lecture he attended at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. In 1910, William Amory was appointed to the American School’s Board of Trustees, on which he served until his death. The School continues to be a hub for the study of Classical archaeology to this day.
