This letter from Frances Morse Lang, the wife of Boston Symphony Orchestra conductor Benjamin Morse Lang, includes a passage where Frances recommends the book The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle to Isabella Stewart Gardner. The two women had a shared love of literature, and many of Frances’s letters include book recommendations. Frances gave Isabella a copy of The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle which Isabella kept in the Macknight Room.
