This clipping of a playbill from an unknown performance by the theatrical troupe, the Irish Players, was enclosed in a book of short plays written by Isabella’s friend Lady Gregory, along with three letters from this same friend. Augusta Gregory, also known as “Lady Gregory,” was an Irish dramatist, folklorist, and theatre manager. Lady Gregory and Isabella shared a love of the stage and probably met at one of Gregory’s productions in Boston. Gregory co-founded the Irish Literary Theatre and the Abbey Theatre, and wrote numerous short works for both companies.
ProvenanceNotesProbably entered Isabella Stewart Gardner's collection in 1911.
