Web Commentary
This clipping from an 1897 edition of the Boston Post recounts and illustrates an event in which Isabella Stewart Gardner walked a toothless lion named Rex around the halls of Boston’s zoo. Gardner loved to see her name in print—she collected numerous newspaper clippings covering her activities.
