ProvenanceNotesThe lions were possibly purchased by Isabella Stewart Gardner with the columns they support. These columns were purchased perhaps from the dealer Antonio Marcato, Venice for 960 lire on 27 September 1897. The lions certainly entered Isabella Stewart Gardner's collection by 1902.
