Web CommentaryWhen Isabella Stewart Gardner opened her museum in 1903, it included a two-story concert hall known as the Music Room. This receipt is for the grand piano that once stood in that room. While the hall was demolished in 1914, the receipt attests to its elegant furnishings—and to Gardner’s investment in top-of-the-line equipment for performances at her museum.
