Frances Greeley Curtis

Frances Greely Curtis (1867-1957) was active in civic and international affairs, served on the board of Associated Charities of Boston, as secretary of the Boston Cooperative Building Company, on the State Board of Charities, and from 1912 to 1924 as a member of the Boston School Committee. In 1925 she was the first woman to run (unsuccessfully) for mayor of Boston. She was also interested in adult education and was a supporter of the American Civil Liberties Union, the Foreign Policy Association, and the United Nations Association.

Miss Curtis was the daughter of Greely Stevenson Curtis and Harriot Appleton. She was a skater, horsewoman and involved in many civic and charitable organizations in Boston.
