Van Oest is a publishing house founded in 1904 by Gérard Van Oest.
Gérard Van Oest (1875-1935) founded the Art and History Bookshop in Brussels , which mainly published books on the history of art in Europe . During the First World War , Gérard Van Oest left Brussels to settle in Paris . While continuing to publish on art history in the Library of Art History collection, Van Oest edited many books on Asian art and created an Ars Asiatica booklet 1 . The crisis of 1929 shook this publishing house and reduced the editions of luxury, but until the years 1940 and 1950 new releases will continue to emerge.
Gustave Vanzype , Alphonse-Jules Wauters and Camille Lemonnier wrote a lot about Belgian painters or created catalogs of famous exhibitions for this publishing house. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Oest accessed 10/17/2017
