Harrow's history dates back to pre-Roman times when the Iceni tribe and Queen Boadecia visited. It is known for its famous public school. The Anglo-Saxon name means 'sacred grove' or 'temple.' In the Middle Ages 12 settlements sprung up that today form the borough.
