Biography:
Scholar of the Italian renaissance, collaborator and disciple of Giovanni Morelli (q.v.). After the death of Morelli in 1891, the archaeologist Austen Henry Layard (q.v.) financed the second and more comprehensive English edition which Ffoulkes co-edited and translated, of Morelli s Italian Painters.
