Not on viewWeb CommentaryChester Howell, an ambulance driver during World War I, gathered these fragments of stained glass after the German bombardment of Reims Cathedral on September 19, 1914. The French cathedral was still in ruins more than three years later when he collected them. Other pieces were set into a glass panel (C8e1) now on view in the Chinese Loggia. Isabella kept these leftover pieces in her personal treasure trove, the Vatichino.
