Biography-Son of Thomas Lechmere, Surveyor General of His Majesty's Customs for the Northern District of America, and Ann Winthrop, descendent of Governor Winthrop
-1753 married Mary Phips, daughter of Lt. Governor Spencer Phips, who had large lands in eastern Cambridge
-Appointed Mandamus Councillor in 1774 but refused office
-Signed Address of the Merchants of Boston to Governor Hutchinson, leaving in 1776 when General Howe evacuated the city
-Named in Banishment Act of 1778 and real property confiscated by the Confiscation Act of 1779
-Only his property confiscated, not his wife's
