Joseph Singleton, was baptised at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk on 30 May 1751, son of Thomas Singleton and his wife Hannah and was related to artist Henry Singleton (1766-1839), who was a tutor to Ozias Humphry (1742-1810). Described in 'Notes & Queries 8th series 2, 1892/2, 249, 298-299' as an 'Artist of Bury St Edmund’s'. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1773 and 1788 and was not only a miniaturist but also and engraver. He was buried at St Mary's church, Bury St Edmund's on 6 June 1815, aged 65.
