Anacleto Pasetti , also called Alexander Ivanovich Pasetti , (* 1850 in St. Petersburg , † June 7, 1912 in Wiesbaden ) [1] was a Russian painter and photographer of Italian origin.

Anacleto Pasetti's father moved from Ferrara to St. Petersburg at the beginning / middle of the 19th century , so when he was born in St. Petersburg in 1850, Anacleto Pasetti was considered an Italian citizen. He received Russian citizenship on February 21, 1900 through a certificate of naturalization from Russian Tsar Nicholas II. [2] [3] He studied painting at the Art Academy in St. Petersburg. His photo studio in St. Petersburg was located on Nevsky Prospect No. 24. [4] He was the court photographer of the Russian tsarist family, whose members he often photographed. Some of his photographs have been colored by hand afterwards.

His son is the set designer Leo Pasetti , his grandson the actor Peter Pasetti.
Pasetti's photographs of members of the royal family reach prices of up to 2,500 euros on the art market. If they are signed by the person portrayed, the auction prices can be up to 3,500 euros. His photo portraits and group photos are often framed in lavish ways.
