Giorgione

Italian, 1477 - 1510
BiographyGiorgione (Italian painter, 1477-1510)
Note: Son of a Viselago peasant farmer who settled in Castelfranco in 1469. His date of birth is inferred from that of his death, probably in 1510 when, according to Vasari, he was 33. Vasari reported that Giorgione was self-taught and influenced by Leonardo da Vinci's art. Often considered the founder of Venetian painting of the 16th century, Giorgione had a brief career of 15 years but his innovative style influenced Titian and others.
