BiographyIn the 1850s Antonio Beato was partners with his brother Felice and James Robertson, their brother-in-law. Beato set up another studio in Calcutta in 1859. Antonio Beato went to Cairo in 1860 where he spent two years before moving to Luxor to open a photographic studio. Beato is thought to be the proprietor of an Egyptian firm based in Luxor that produced tourist images after 1862. In the late 1860s, Beato was in partnership with Hippolyte Arnoux in Egypt.
