BiographyHale Irene Baumgras American composer born at Syracuse New York Studied piano at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music taking the Springer gold medal in 1881 Later studied in Berlin under Moskowski and Oscar Raif Was married in Berlin in 1884 to Philip Hale the distinguished Boston musical critic Her health was undermined and she was obliged to give up work After her marriage she became a resident of Boston and has produced a number of songs and piano works the latter under the pseudonym of Victor Rene Among songs are Mystery Maisie An Opal Heart and We ll Go no More A roving
