According to Mariette, Abecedario VI p.166, all the plates were made by Andrea Zucchi (qv).The first edition was issued c.1720, and there were frequent later editions. The complete set in the BM (246* a.10 and 11) is of the later XVIIIc. Another set of the paintings only has been broken up (see 1855,0609.1150 to 1206). The project was begun by group of patriotic Venetian aristocrats c.1715, and then handed over to Lovisa. It was originally intended to have 100 views and 100 celebrated paintings, with text.
