"At a special meeting of the Class of '69, of Columbia College, held on the 7th day of October, 1875, the following resolutions were adopted:
Whereas, Our beloved classmate, David Stewart, Jr. has been relieved by death from the sufferings of a painful illness, which he bore with Christian fortitude. Resolved, that we deplore the departure of a faithful friend, a finished gentleman and Christian man, and that we sympathize deeply with his family for the loss of one whose character and disposition have ever endeared him to all who knew him.
