Herminie of La Brousse of Verteillac was married June 26 the 1872 with Alain de Rohan-Chabot (1844-1914) , Prince de Leon, who at the death of his father ( 1893 ), became the 11 th Duke of Rohan . They had five children:

The Princess de Léon quickly became a prominent figure in the world, sharing between the hotel Verteillac (renamed Rohan ), 35 boulevard des Invalides in Paris, the castle of Josselin ( Morbihan ) and the cottage of the Fairies in Pontaillac , built by the Marquis de Verteillac on the property Defé he had acquired in 1865.

In her Parisian salon, she received men of letters, including Robert de Montesquiou who dedicated one of the poems of the leader of sweet smells . During the First World War - during which she lost her oldest son - she turned his hotel into a military hospital and devoted himself to treat the wounded which earned him the Legion of Honor 1 , the medal of the French Recognition and medal of the Italian Recognition.

His collection of dolls forms the backdrop of the museum of the Doll opened in 1984 in the former stables of the castle of Josselin 2 .

It is at one of his famous costume balls - also mentioned by Boni de Castellane - that Swann refers to the beginning of Marcel Proust's side of Swann "What I reproach the newspapers is to make us pay attention every day to insignificant things while we read three or four times in our lives the books where there are the essential things. As soon as we tear feverishly each morning the newspaper strip, then we should change things and put in the newspaper, I do not know, the ... Pascal's thoughts! (he unfastened the word in a tone of ironical emphasis so as not to look pedantic). And it is in this gilt-edged volume that we only open once every ten years, "he added, testifying to the worldly things of the disdain which some men of the world are causing, that we would read that the Queen of Greece went to Cannes or the Princess de Leon gave a costume ball.As this the right proportion would be restored. And also, always in the same book: "I thought back then to that dinner where I was so sad because my mother was not supposed to go up to my room and where he had said that the balls at the Princess de Leon's house had no importance . "
